Home Computer Support

RufusTech provides telephone , e-mail, house-call and remote (visiting a person's computer screen remotely) support to private home computer users. Non-business home computing service calls are billed at a lower rate than business support. This is because business enterprise computing equipment is more complex, a greater level of expertise is required, and greater precautions must be taken when servicing mission-critical computing infrastructure, as downtime must be avoided or minimized at all times.

Comments on Big Box Store "Techies," "Squads," etc.

Consulting services which are connected to stores selling computing equipment may be more motivated to sell you new equipment than help you get the most out of your current investment. In addition, our survey found that these "Big Box Store" consultants often had only a high school education and no Computer Science degree of any kind. Furthermore, many of these vendors charge professional business computer consulting fees even though you may end up with a high school educated computer enthusiast with some informal training working on your home computer. We suggest you always inquire as to the educational background and work experience of the technician working on your computer. When it comes to getting the best technicians, "Certifications" are no substitute for college education and/or professional work experience in the computing field.
